This postcard was published by Gebr. Metz, Tübingen to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the birth of Graf von Zeppelin, from a portrait by Emerich. The card also commemorates the Zeppelin Post Exhibition sponsored by the Konstanz Postage Stamp Collectors' Club, the city of Zeppelin's birth.

The example shown below on the left, has the special cancel used to commemorate the event.

This private postcard was issued 9th Jul 1938 and designed by Richard Klein to celebrate the 1938 Day of German Art. PP127-C-34 features a pre-printed 6Pf Hindenburg Medallion stamp but there was also another version of the card, identical except without the pre-printed stamp.

REICHSWETTKAMPFE DER S.A
(15th/17th Jul 1938)

This unofficial series of six coloured postcards was also issued to commemorate the National SA Sports competition held in Berlin from 15th to 17th Jul 1938. The SA high command (Obersten SA Führung) sanctioned the series which was published by F. Bruckmann K.G of München. The six cards were sold in a packet which was inscribed 'Reichswettkämpfe | der SA | Berlin 15.-17.Juli 1938' and depicts an oak leaf wreath with swastika and sword in the centre.

This postcard was released to advertise the 'Eternal Jew' Exhibition held in Vienna in 1938. There are three variations of this card, this one without a pre-printed stamp and two others, PP127-C-31 and PP142-C-18 with a 6Rpf Hindenburg Medallion stamp and a 5Rpf Luftpost stamp, respectively and issued in Munich. This version of the card has the text below the image on three lines whereas the 1937 versions are on two lines.

The annual German Radio Broadcasting Exhibition was hosted in Berlin-Charlottenburg from the 5th until the 21st of Aug 1938. There was a series of six photocards published by Verlag C. Koser of Charlottenburg to commemorate the event. A similar series of photocards was published to commemorate the 16th Exhibition held from 28th Jul until 6th Aug 1939.

Two identical postcards (except for the colour) were published to commemorate this event held from 13th to 15th Aug 1938. The event was sponsored by the 'K.d.F'. The first postcard (PP142-C-36-01) has a blue left-hand pane and the second (PP142-C-36-02) has a reddish-brown left-hand pane.

STATE VISIT of PRINCE REGENT HORTHY
(25th/27th Aug 1938)

Issued 25th to 27th Aug to celebrate the official visit of Hungarian Prince Regent Horthy to Germany. The card features portraits of Adolf Hitler and Horthy and was published by Verlag O. Struck, Berlin-Lichterfelde. There were at least another 4 postcards commemorating the visit. This example has the special cancel used to celebrate the event in Berlin as well as an additional cancel from Stuttgart.

This two-part postcard was issued to commemorate the four power Munich conference held in Sep 1938 in an effort to appease Adolf Hitler with his demands for the Sudetenland. The conference sacrificed the Czech people for another year of peace in Europe. There were several other postcards issued on the same theme and with similar designs.

The front of this postcard features a 3Pf Hindenburg Medallion pre-printed stamp and an image of the ship "Hein Godenwind" in Hamburg Harbour. There are twelve different versions of the reverse and each one depicts an historic Hamburg postage stamp. The stamps include a ½ Schilling, 1 Schilling, 1¼ Schilling (2 designs), 1½ Schilling, 2 Schilling, 2½ Schilling (two designs), 3 Schilling, 4 Schilling, 7 Schilling or 9 Schilling. A version of this card also exists with the reverse side blank.

ANNEXATION OF THE SUDETENLAND
(1st Oct 1938)

There were a great number of postcards published to commemorate the return of the Sudetenland to Germany, below are just a few examples of the many that were printed.

Issued 1st Oct 1938 to celebrate the return of the Sudetenland on 1st Oct 1938, Austria on 12th Mar 1938 and the Saarland on 1st Mar 1935 to Germany. There are three versions of this card, the first has no inscription on the base of the plinth, the second has "Gross Deutschland" on the base of the plinth and the third, which was printed in 1945, has a blue label added to the plinth inscribed 'DEUTSCHLAND VERDERRER 1945'. The example below is the second version.

This series of 6 postcards was published as a set with a wrapper, to commemorate the 200th Anniversary of postal services in Saxony. Each of the cards features a single 3Pf Hindenburg Medallion pre-printed stamp on the reverse side. There is a second set of identical cards (see below), from Leipzig, with differing inscriptions and pre-printed stamps. There is also a set without a pre-printed stamp.

125th ANNIVERSARY of the
BATTLE of NATIONS
(16th Oct 1938)

Published 16th Oct 1938 in Leipzig to commemorate “The collector at the end of the day”, advertising show for the 125th anniversary of the Battle of Nations. On the reverse is a yellow coach from around 1770 on the road from Dresden to Leipzig. There were 5 different cards produced: PP122-C-100 (3Rpf), PP126-C-24/01 and /02 (5Rpf), PP127-C-45 (6Rpf) and PP142-C-41 (5Rpf Luftpost).

(22nd/23rd Oct 1938)

Originally this postcard was released to commemorate Gau Day on 22nd and 23rd Oct 1938, however the event was delayed so this card was re-issued in two forms. The first re-issue is exactly the same as the original but now has the '22/23 Okt' overprinted '4-6 Nov'. Clearly stocks of the '22/23 Okt' version were re-used. The second form has exactly the same design but there is no longer a '22/23 Okt' date at all, instead it has been completely replaced (not overwritten) with 4.-6. NOV.)

PP142-C-40 was published on 23rd Oct 1938 in Magdeburg to commemorate Hans Grade Memorial Day and Flight Day. Like P142-C-38/01 but now with green overprint on the reverse on the top of the left-hand pane. The image on the front shows a bi-plane and a glider soaring over the German countryside.

15th ANNIVERSARY of the MUNICH PUTSCH

(9th Nov 1938)

Published by Münchner Grossveranstaltungen e.V, to commemorate the 15th Anniversary of the failed 1923 Munich Putsch. The inscription reads 'Und Ihr habt doch gesiegt' - 'However, you have won' referring to the fact that despite the failure of the putsch the Nazi Party did eventually prevail and seize power in Germany. The reverse has a green 6Rpf Hindenburg Medallion Stamp and there was also a special cancel used in Munich.

This postcard was published on 27th Nov 1938 to commemorate the First National NSFK (National Socialist Flieger Korps) Model Aircraft Competition held in Frankfurt (Main) on 27th Nov 1938. The card was designed by Lorenz and Published by Der Korpsführer des NS-Fliegerkorps and had a pre-printed 6Rpf Hindenburg Medallion stamp on the reverse. There was also a special cancel associated with the competition inscribed 'FRANKFURT (MAIN) | 1. Reichswettbewerb | für Saalflugmodelle des | N.S.Fliegerkorps' which has an image of a man with outstretched arms, wings and a swastika.

Inscribed "Markenhaus Klickow Berlin-Wilmersdorf 2", this was a set of fifteen postcards, all of which feature a brown 3Rpf Hindenburg Medallion pre-printed stamp. The cards were private printings by the stamp dealership 'Albert Klickow Markenhaus' from 1933 until 1940.
