The following postcard is a plea from a firm called Adolf Filss of Erfurt. The company requests that customer Paul Handorf of Weimar return their packaging, empty cans and barrels free of charge. Since he did not return the packages after their repeated request, they assume that he wants to keep them, and ask him to kindly transfer the money (16 RM) within 8 days. Otherwise they are happy to help him to return them.

This postcard was send by registered mail from BERLIN to HANNOVER on 29th Aug 1938. The sender has applied 36Rpf postage (6Rpf intercity rate plus 30Rpf for registered mail, which should be correct). However the blue crayon marking 'P12' indicates that another 12Rpf is required to deliver the postcard. The penalty for applying insufficient stamps was 1.5x the deficit, in this case 1.5x 8Rpf = 12Rpf. So the correct fee should have been 44Rpf not 36Rpf.
