MICHEL 467 to 473
HINDENBURG - MEDALLIONS (I)

The so-called Hindenburg Medallions are possibly the most well-known of the German definitive stamps of the 1930's. There were three issues (four if you count Michel 548 to 553, the 1934 set issued to commemorate Hindenburg's death). This first set, was produced on waffle watermarked paper, the second set issued in 1933 Michel 472 to 495 was also produced on waffle watermarked paper but features different colours and values. The third set Michel 512 to 528 issued from Dec 1933 until 1936, was produced on swastika watermarked paper.
