MICHEL 475
GERMAN AID FOR THE NEEDY
(CASTLES and PALACES)

The annual stamp issue to raise funds for German charities in 1932 saw the release of a set of five stamps all depicting well-known German castles. The 6Rpf stamp features Schloss Stolzenfels located near Koblenz on the River Rhine in the state of Rhineland-Palatinate. The original castle was built in 1259 by Arnold II von Isenburg and was extended gradually thereafter.

During the Nine Year's War (1594-1603) the castle was destroyed by the French but the building was remodelled and rebult in 1842.
