INTRODUCTION:
The study of the various postmarks and cancellations used in 1932 is a difficult one due to the limited information available. Fortunately we have the BOCHMANN catalogue to assist in identifying most of them. Whilst the catalogue covers the vast majority of special cancellations, and is a required source for this area of study, the information provided is limited and does not put the various postmarks and cancellations into context. The Bochmann catalogue forms the basis of this page but I have provided additional information where possible. My apologies now for any errors and the inevitable ommisions.

WILHELM BUSCH EXHIBITION
(16th Apr / 16th Jul 1932)

There are four versions of this special slogan cancel used to commemorate the Wilhelm Busch Exhibition held in Hannover in 1932 (there was also one used in 1931). The slogan was used from 27th May until 9th Jun 1932.

The first version is a type 'A' (More information required). The second is a Type 'Bd' cancellation, No.29, inscribed "Wilhelm Busch | Ausstellung | Hannover | 16.April - 16.Juli" with an image of "the pious Helene" from a Wilhelm Busch book of the same name (see below).



The third version, No 30, is the same Type 'A' as No 28, but without the dates. The fourth version, No 32 is the same roller cancel as No 29, but again without the dates.

GOETHE'S BIRTH PLACE
(1932)

This special slogan cancellation was used to commemorate German poet and politician Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. The inscription reads "Gedenkt der | DEUTSCHEN | VOLKS-SPENDE | FÜR GOETHES | GEBURTS STATTE" - 'Commemorates the | GERMAN | PEOPLE'S DONATION | FOR GOETHS | PLACE OF BIRTH' and was used in BERLIN, DUSSELDORF, ESSEN, FRANKFURT am MAIN, HAMBURG and KÖLN in 1931 and 1932.

BENUTZE DIE LUFTPOST
(25th Nov 1932)

There were many different versions of the "Benutze die luftpost" cancellations, and the slogan cancel below is just one of them. This version was used in Frankfurt am Main, Munich and Stuttgart, from 31.5.24 and every year thereafter until 1938.
