GERMAN AID FOR THE NEEDY
(CASTLES and PALACES)
The annual stamp issue to raise funds for German charities in 1932 saw the release of a set of five stamps all depicting well-known German castles. The 25Rpf stamp features an image of Schloss Lichtenstein located in the Swabian Jura in southern Germany. The castle overlooks the Echaz valley near Reutlingen in Baden-Württenberg. The original castle ws built in 1100 but the modern castle only dates from 1840-1842.
