GERMAN AID FOR THE NEEDY
(CASTLES and PALACES)
The annual stamp issue to raise funds for German charities in 1932 saw the release of a set of five stamps all depicting well-known German castles. The 40Rpf stamp has an image of Marburg Castle which was built in the 11th Century on top of the Schlossberg in Marburg, Hesse. Today the building is used as a museum.
