MICHEL BLOCK 5
11th OLYMPIC SUMMER GAMES
(MINISHEET)
BACKGROUND: Issued 1st Aug 1936 and available until the 16th of Aug (for the duration of the games). The sheet itself is watermarked "XI OLYMPISCHE SPIELE" and "BERLIN 1936" and was produced on handmade paper so there are variations in colour and thickness of the paper. The stamps are the same as the earlier individual stamps from the set comprising Michel 609, Michel 610, Michel 611 and Michel 616: 3+2Rpf, 4+3Rpf, 6+4Rpf and 40+35Rpf respectively, but are now numbered Michel 624, Michel 625, Michel 626 and Michel 627.
The sheet can be found with two variations: Type 'X' has a swastika watermark with the legs pointing to the left and Type 'Y' has the legs pointing to the right.
