OFFICIAL 8 POSTCARDS SET
(1st Sep 1937)
On 1st Sep 1937 a series of 8 postcards was published to commemorate the 9th Nazi Party rally in Nurnberg from 6th to 13th Sep 1937. The cards all feature a 6 Rpf Hitler portrait pre-printed stamp and have an image from one of the previous rallies on the left-hand pane. When purchased individually each card cost 25 Rpf, but these cards were also available in a special commemorative envelope for a cost of 2 RM.

The second card in the series shows columns of SA members marching through the Luitpold Arena during one of the many marches that took place on a daily basis. There were a large number of different banners and flags each representing a particular Gau or group within the party structure.

"NÜRNBERG | Reichsparteitag der NSDAP" HANDSTAMP
With special "NÜRNBERG | Reichsparteitag der NSDAP" handstamp.1. The example below is postally unused but has been favour cancelled at the Nazi Party Rally in 1937 with the special handstamp. There were many counters available (this one counter 'h').



2. This example was cancelled on the first day of the rally at the NSKK tented area, with the special cancel inscribed "NÜRNBERG | REICHSPARTEITAG | nskk-zeltlager Möngeldorf", (counter 'a') - 'NÜRNBERG | REICH PARTY DAY | NSKK tent camp Möngeldorf'. The card was destined for SAARBRÜCKEN.



3. The next example was also cancelled during the rally but this time with the special cancel inscribed "NÜRNBERG | Reichsparteitag der NSDAP" (counter 'g') - 'NÜRNBERG | REICH PARTY DAY of the NSDAP'. The card was destined for OSNABRÜCK.



4. The third example was, like the first example, cancelled at the rally, on the last day (13th Sep) at the NSKK tented area, with the special cancel inscribed "NÜRNBERG | REICHSPARTEITAG | nskk-zeltlager Möngeldorf", (counter 'd') - 'NÜRNBERG | REICH PARTY DAY | NSKK tent camp Möngeldorf'. The card was destined for GÖTTINGEN.



5. Another example of a domestically used card (destination GÖTTINGEN), cancelled on 7th Sep with the special cancel inscribed "NÜRNBERG | Reichsparteitag der NSDAP" (counter 'm') - 'NÜRNBERG | REICH PARTY DAY of the NSDAP'.



6. BERLIN was the destination for this domestically used card, cancelled on the last day of the rally (13th Sep) with the special cancel inscribed "NÜRNBERG | Reichsparteitag der NSDAP" (counter 'a') - 'NÜRNBERG | REICH PARTY DAY of the NSDAP'.



7. The next example was cancelled at the rally on 10th Sep 1937, this time using counter 'h'. The final destination was DÜSSELDORF.

With special machine cancellation rectangular cancel inscribed "STADT DER | REICHSPARTEITAG | Nürnberg", which features one of the giant eagle statues in the Luitpold Arena and a panoramic outline of the city.

DOMESTIC AIRMAIL
With special "NÜRNBERG | Reichsparteitag der NSDAP" handstamp.1. The domestically used Airmail card below was cancelled at the rally on 6th Sep 1937 and sent to DRESDEN. The domestic airmail rate was 10 Rpf so this example is over-franked by 5 Rpf.



2. The domestically used Airmail card below was cancelled at the NÜRNBURG Airport on 11th Jan 1938 and was destined for PFORZHEIM. This example was correctly franked with an additional 10 Rpf of postage. The SST on this card is the counter 'b' version.

INVALID USAGE
There is a known fake circulating on the internet as it can be seen below. There are other examples of the other cards in this series, also with similar fake special cancellations. It can easily be identified by the yellowish background to the sky and the overly white card that was used to produce this fake.
