OFFICIAL POSTCARD

BACKGROUND: Issued 11th Jan 1942. This was a series of 4 postcards issued to coincide with the annual Tag der Briefmarke - Stamp Day. All of these postcards are blank on the reverse side. These cards also exist overprinted 'OSTLAND' and 'UKRAINE', for use in the eastern occupied regions.

The cards were designed by the Axtler Heudtlas husband and wife team and sold for 25 Rpf with the funds being donated to Hitler's culture fund. There are two variations of the cards depending on the type of card that was used to manufacture the cards:
P308 (a): on cream-coloured card
P308 (b): chamois to cream coloured
SPECIAL CANCEL: As with previous Tag der Briefmarke issues there were a number of special cancellations used throughout various towns and cities in Germany.
