TAG DER BRIEFMARKE - SORAU

BACKGROUND: PP122-C-71, Published for 'The Day of the Stamp' in Sorau, and the 1st Sorau Stamp Exhibition. Sorau is now known as Żary and is located in the western part of modern day Poland. There is an image of the town square and a shield on the left-hand pane and the inscription below reads "Tag der Briefmarke 1938 | 1. | Sorauer Briefmarkenausstellung | Verein der Briefmarkensammler in Sorau | in R.d.P"
SONDERSTEMPEL: The special cancellation used at the show is inscribed "SORAU | 1.Sorauer Briefmarken-Ausstellung | Zum Tag der Briefmarke 1938". This is the only SORAU inscribed special cancellation ever used, and it features "The Three Faithful" or Three Towers - The Brama Dolna (Lower Gate), The Holy Heart of Jesus Church and Dewins-Packs-Bibersteins' Castle.
