TAG DER BRIEFMARKE - HALLE (SALLE)

BACKGROUND: PP122-C-72 was published to commemorate 'The Day of the Stamp' held in the Old Town Hall in Halle. The reverse side of the card has an image of Halle Town Hall with a Halle stamp between the two spires of the building.

As well as this card, there was another issued at the show. This card is without a pre-printed stamp and features an image of the 1935 issue Michel 575 stamp of Friedrich Handel to the right of a sculpture of a figure upon a plinth.

SONDERSTEMPEL: The special cancel used at the show is inscribed "HALLE (SALLE) | Deutsche Sammler Gemeinschaft | Sammlerschau / Haendel", it features an image of the Georg Friedrich Händel monument. Händel was a well-known Baroque composer who was born and raised in the city (1685–1759).
