GÖRLITZ BRIEFMARKENSCHAU
PP122-F-2 and PP142-F-1
(8th Jan 1938)

BACKGROUND: There were two identical postcards published to commemorate the Görlitz Stamp Show held on 8th Jan 1938. The cards were identical except:

PP122-F-2 features a 3Rpf pre-printed Hindenburg Medallion stamp
PP142-F-1 has a 5Rpf Luftpost stamp.

The front of the card features an image of the old Prussian Post Office building. In the top left-hand corner is the word "Görlitz" in Gothic script. At the bottom of the card are two lines of text separated by four concentric circles and the number '517'.

SONDERSTEMPEL: There was a special cancel used at the show inscribed "Görlitz | Briefmarkenschau der Deutschen Sammler-Gemmeinschaft | in der N.S. Gemmeinschaft 'Kraft durch Freude' | 8.-9.Januar 1938", and the image is of a Prussian 4 ring cancellation. This special cancel was only used on the 8th and 9th Jan 1938, and this was the only GÖRLITZ special cancellation for that entire year.
