BACKGROUND: This single postcard was published to commemorate the 600th Anniversary of the City of Philippsburg, in Baden-Württemburg. The image is that of Simplicissimus, the Philippsburg Drummer whose job was to raise recruits to defend Philippsburg Fortress in 1624. The image on the right is the Coat of Arms of the city.
