DEUTSCHLANDFLUG
(22nd/29th May 1938)

BACKGROUND: Issued to commemorate the 1938 'German Flight' and sponsored by the N.S.F.K (Nationalsozialistische Fliegerkorps) or National Socialist Flying Corps. The card was designed by K. Lorenz and had either a pre-printed 6Rpf Hindenburg Medallion stamp or alternatively it did not have a pre-printed stamp.

SONDERSTEMPEL: There were two related special cancels, the first inscribed 'Bayreuth 2 | Das NS-Fliegerkorps / fliegt für Grossdeutschland / und seinen Führer / Deutschlandflug 1938' and the second simply 'Deutschlandflug 1938 | Endziel Wien'.

This example from my collection has a self-adhesive 6Rpf Hindenburg Medallion stamp and was cancelled in WISMAR on 9th Mar 1939.
