SCHLÜSSEL ZUR WELT - BREMEN
PP122-C-89 and PP127-C-40
(25th May/19th Jun 1938)

BACKGROUND: This postcard was published prior to the BREMEN 'Key to the World' Exhibition held from 25th May until 19th Jun in the German city of Bremen.

There are two major variations depending on the value of the pre-printed stamp:

P122-C-89: with a 3Rpf Hindenburg Medallion pre-printed stamp.
PP127-C-40: with a 6RPf pre-printed stamp.

PP122-C-89 and PP127-C-40 are identical on the front and the reverse side is blank. There were also several private versions with a confirmation of the visitors participation at the exhibition or has text requesting shipment of sender's choice.

In addition there is also a version with no pre-printed stamp.

SONDERSTEMPEL: A special handstamp inscribed "BREMEN | Schlussel zur Welt - Ausstellung" which was used from 25th May until 19th Jun 1938 and exists with either a counter "a" or "b".

PRIVATE PRINTING

1. In addition to the postcards above there were several other cards, privately printed. The card below has an exhibition ticket number on the front side in the position where the pre-printed stamp would have been had there been one. In addition the reverse side is now completely taken up with pre-printed text.

2. Another privately printed card has multiple lines of text in the sender's section including "1. Bolldtreckungsbefehl zu erteilen 2. Zustellung - und zwangsvolldtreckung - zu vermitteln".

DOMESTIC USAGE

The first card below is a domestically use PP122-C-89 and was a local delivery in BREMEN on 19th Oct 1938.




The next card is another locally used card, again in BREMEN, but this time a PP127-C-40 posted on the 7th Jun 1938. This card has the special cancel that was used at the exhibition.

FOREIGN USAGE

ARGENTINA

1. The following card was sent from BREMEN on 1st Aug 1938 and was destined for BUENOS AIRES, ARGENTINA.

HUNGARY

The following PP127-C-40 postcard was sent from BREMEN to BUDAPEST in HUNGARY on 7th Jun 1938. The card features the special handstamp inscribed "BREMEN | Schlussel zur Welt - Ausstellung" which was used from 25th May until 19th Jun 1938 and exists with either a counter "a" or "b".
