HITLER'S 49th BIRTHDAY
(20th Apr 1938)
BACKGROUND: Hitler's Birthday in 1938 resulted in the usual deluge of special commemorative postcards, even more so this year since the re-union with Austria 10 days earlier.
SONDERSTEMPEL: There were several similar special cancellations used to commemorate the event, some of which can be seen on the cards below.
GREEN WREATH ON WHITE BACKGROUND

There were a number of very similar postcards all featuring Hitler's birth place of Braunau Am Inn in Austria. The fifth was pubished to honour Hitler's 51st birthday in 1940. This first card features a green wreath on a white background with red background for the plinth.
