OTHER EXAMPLES

POSTALLY UNUSED

The PP122-C-75/02 postcard shown below has a somewhat unusual cancel. It was first used for the 'Day of the Stamp' on 7th to 9th Jan 1938, then it was used several more times in Jan 1938 as below:

7th to 9th Jan, 15th and 16th Jan, 22nd and 23rd Jan, and finally as seen here 29th and 30th Jan. The only difference between these usages is the date.

DOMESTIC USAGE

1. The following card was a local delivery in CHEMNITZ (hence 3Rpf was sufficient postage). The special cancel is the CHEMNITZ version of the "Tag der Briefmarke" for 1938.

2. The next card also featues a special "Tag der Briefmarke" cancellation, this time from MUNICH. The card was destined for BERLIN.

3. The card below features another "Tag der Briefmarke" cancellation, this time the one used at BERLIN W62. The destination was CHEMNITZ and the card is over franked by 1Rpf (6Rpf was sufficient, so the extra 1Rpf wa not required).

4. Another "Tag der Briefmarke" cancellation used in BERLIN, only this time from a mobile post office, and cancelled the day before the actual day, on the 8th Jan 1938. This particular cancel was used on the 8th and the 9th unlike the others which were only used on the 9th Jan. The "BERLIN FAHRBARES POSTAMT" cancellation existed with either 'a', 'b', 'c', 'd', 'e', 'f' or 'g' counters

7. A change of pace for the next example, the card does have a Tag der Briefmarke handstamp but this one is of a different design to the earlier examples and was used in MANNHEIM 2.

INVALID USAGE

1. Although posted during the validity period of the pre-printed stamp the sender under paid the postage by 3 Rpf (6Rpf was required for the correct intercity rate). Therefore a penalty of 1.5x the missing postage was applied (the card was 3 Rpf short, and since there is no 0.5 Rpf stamp (total of 4 1/2 Rpf), the fine was 5 Rpf).
