42nd GERMAN PHILATELIC DAY
(6th/7th Jun 1936)

BACKGROUND: This set of four cards (blue, brown, green and reddish-brown) was published to commemorate the 42nd German Philatelic Day held on 6th/7th Jun 1936. The four cards have an identical design, and each card can be found with one of four different variations.

1. All cards with a pre-printed 5Rpf Luftpost stamp.
2. The same as 1) above and additional inscription "3. Philitelistische Ostlandtagung".
3. All cards with two pre-printed stamps.
4. The same as 1) but without pre-printed stamps.

The design features a view of "Burg Lauenstein" - 'Lauenstein Castle' (located just above the town of Lauenstein in Lower Saxony), and the inscription:

"42nd Deutscher Philatelistentag
All Deutschspeechenden Postwertzeichensammler
einig und geschlossen in einem Bund"

"42nd German Philatelic Day
All German-speaking postage stamp collectors
united as a group"

The cards were produced by PAUL KOCH G.m.b.H of ASCHERSLEBEN.

SONDERSTEMPEL: The following sonderstempel was associated with this event.



Inscribed "LAUENSTEIN (OBERER) | 42nd Deutscher Philatelistentag", this sonderstempel was available from 5th to 8th June 1936.

As well as these postcards there were also four Official Envelopes with the same design as the postcards.
