42nd GERMAN PHILATELIC DAY
(6th/7th Jun 1936)

BACKGROUND: This set of four envelopes (blue, brown, green and reddish-brown) was published to commemorate the 42nd German Philatelic Day held on 6th/7th Jun 1936. The four envelopes have an identical design to that of the Offical Postcards. These envelopes exist with either no pre-printed stamps, 2x 8 Rpf stamps or 2x 12 Rpf stamps.

The design features a view of "Burg Lauenstein" - 'Lauenstein Castle' (located just above the town of Lauenstein in Lower Saxony), and the inscription:

"42nd Deutscher Philatelistentag
All Deutschspeechenden Postwertzeichensammler
einig und geschlossen in einem Bund"

"42nd German Philatelic Day
All German-speaking postage stamp collectors
united as a group"

SONDERSTEMPEL: The following sonderstempel was associated with this event.



Inscribed "LAUENSTEIN (OBERER) | 42nd Deutscher Philatelistentag", this sonderstempel was available from 5th to 8th June 1936.

As well as these envelopes there were also four Official Postcards with the same design as these envelopes.

The following postally used example was sent from LAUENSTEIN to an address in PFALZ and along with the special cancel it has two of the four stamps issued in 1936 to commemorate the International Municipal Congress in Munich and Berlin, Michel 618 (5Rpf) and Michel 620 (25Rpf).
