BACKGROUND: Two postcards were issued in 1934 to commemorate the death of Paul von Hindenburg. The first has a 5 Rpf pre-printed stamp P234 and the second has a darker 6 Rpf stamp (Michel 235). P235 exists in two variants: P235a is on light to cream-coloured card and P235b is on darker card.

1. This postally used P235a was posted in GRÜNA on 11th Apr 1935.2. The following domestic long distance postcard was cancelled in FRANKENTHAL (PFALZ) on 18th Dec 1934 and was sent to EDIGHEIM.

1. This first foreign usage was sent from HAMBURG on 24th Oct 1934 to MALMO, SWEDEN. The sender has added two re-occupation of the Saarland, commemorative 6 Rpf self-adhesive stamps, for a total of 16 Rpf, 1 Rpf more than was required to cover the postage.ABOVE: P235b

1. The following P235 (b) was a domestic airmail delivery cancelled in BÜBLINGEN on Hitler's 47th birthday on 20th Apr 1936. The destination was FRIEDRICHSHAFEN where the red confirmation stamp "Mit Luftpost befördert | Luftpostamt Friedrichshafen (Bodensee)" was applied.EUROPEAN AIRMAIL

1. This postally used P235b was posted on the CHEMNITZ-AUE-ADORF train on 4th Feb 1935 and destined for WALKHEIM.INVALID USAGE
SPECIAL SLOGAN CANCELS
1. This P235a postcard has been cancelled with a special cancel used to commemorate the March of the Nazi Party members of Gau Saxony from DRESDEN to NÜRNBERG, just prior to the 1936 Annual Reichsparteitag (Nazi Party Rally). The inscription on the cancel reads:"MARSCHSTAFFEL ZUM REICHSPARTEITAG DER NSDAP | DRESDEN-HOF- NÜRNBERG | MARSCHPOST | GAU SACHSEN"
"MARCH RELAY TO THE NATIONAL PARTY CONVENTION OF THE NSDAP | DRESDEN-HOF- NUREMBERG | MARCH MAIL | GAU SAXONY"
The second stamp, a 6 Rpf stamp commemorating the rally wasn't needed, and was likely added in order to get a second example of this special cancellation.
2. This postally used P235a was sent from HALLE to BAMBERG and cancelled with a CDS cancel on 14th Jan 1935. In addition there is a popular slogan cancel inscribed:
"Kauft | WOHLFAHRTS= | BRIEFMARKEN | für die | WINTERHILFE!"
"Buy | WELFARE | STAMPS | for the | WINTER HELP!"
3. The next postally used P235b was posted in KIEL on 31st Oct 1934 and destined for BERLIN-ZEHLENDORF.
4. The following postally used P235(b) postcard was sent from HALBERSTADT to MUNICH on 19th Nov 1934.
5. The following example features the special cancel used at the 1935 NÜRNBERG Nazi Party Rally, held in that city from 5th to 10th Sep. The destination was the city of HAMBURG.
