BACKGROUND: Issued 1930. Special postcard to raise funds for the German Welfare Fund. The pre-printed stamp is an 8 + 4 Rpf surcharge for the charity. The image on the stamp depicts the city of Aachen.
The inscription in the left-hand pane reads:
"Deutsche Nothilfe
Für unsere Mutter - für unsere Jugend"
"German emergency aid
For our mother - for our youth"
Over 1.4 million of these cards were printed and they were valid until the 30th Jun 1931.
In addition to the official card there were several different private printings of this card.
