GERMAN TRAFFIC EXHIBITION
(Jun/Oct 1925)
BACKGROUND: The 1925 German Traffic Exhibition, "DEUTSCHE VERKEHRS-AUSSTELLUNG", was held in Munich from June to October. There were a number of cards, official and private, published to commemorate the event.
This must have been a major exhibition as, in addition to the private postcards on this page, there was also an official postcard P206, and two official postage stamps Michel 370 and 371, all issued to commemorate the exhibition.
SPECIAL CANCEL: There were three slogan cancels associated with the exhibition:
1. Machine cancel with flag and "DEUTSCHE VERKEHRS AUSSTELLUNG" above and "MÜNCHEN 1925-Juni OKTOBER" below.
2. Machine cancel with flag and three lines of text below "Deutsche | Verkehrs-Ausstellung | München 1925 - Juni - Oktober" below.
3. Hand stamp with eagle and wavy lines.

BACKGROUND: This printed to private order postcard was published to commemorate the event. The left-hand pane is inscribed "DEUTSCHE VERKEHRS-AUSSTELLUNG" - 'GERMAN TRAFFIC EXHIBITION'. The reverse of the card features an image of the God Hermes, the protector of travellers.
There are two versions of this card:
PP81-C-5/01: as below
PP81-C-5/02: as PP81-C-5/01 only now with an additional inscription "Zeppelin-Eckener-Spende".

SERIES OF CARDS
As well as the printed-to-private-order card above there was a series of privately printed cards (unknown number) which all have the same design and inscriptions on the front of the card but a different image on the reverse. These cards do not have a pre-printed stamp.CARD No. 3

This second colourful card features a figure holding a golden headband and a winged wheel on the reverse. The bottom of the front left-hand pane bears the inscription "Karte I: Herausgegeben von der | Deutschen Verkehrs-Ausstellung." - 'Card I: Issued by the | German traffic exhibition.'.REFERENCES:
