INTRODUCTION:
The study of the various postmarks and cancellations used in 1934 is a difficult one due to the limited information available. Fortunately, we have the BOCHMANN catalogue to assist in identifying most of them. Whilst the catalogue covers the vast majority of special cancellations and is a required source for this area of study, the information provided is limited and does not put the various postmarks and cancellations into context. The Bochmann catalogue forms the basis of this page, but I have provided additional information where possible. My apologies now for any errors and the inevitable omissions.

RELATED POSTCARD:
There were 11 Airmail stamps issued in 1934 and although there was no directly related commemorative handstamps there were several slogan postmarks that are somewhat related.

SAAR PLEBISCITE
(26th Aug 1934)

RELATED POSTCARD:
Two commemorative stamps were issued on 26th Aug 1934 to mark the upcoming referendum on the region's future, scheduled for 13th Jan 1935. There was no officially related special handstamp but there were at least three slogan cancels.

RELATED POSTCARD: Official postcard P252 was issued to commemorate the event. In addition there were a large number of private postcards available.
The special handstamp used in NÜRNBERG during the 1934 rally, from 5th to 10th Sep 1934, was simply inscribed "Reichsparteitag | der N.S.D.A.P | in Nürnberg + | vom 5 mit 10 Sept 1934". It features 13 vertical lines and a swastika image. Was their any significance to the number of vertical lines used?

175th ANNIVERSARY OF BIRTH OF SCHILLER

Two commemorative stamps were issued on 5th Nov 1934 to mark the 175th Anniversary of the birth of Schiller. There were two special handstamps and two related slogan postmarks.
