BACKGROUND: Issued on 9th Oct 1938, there were two identical G. Fritz designed stamps published to commemorate the opening of the Saar Pfalz Theatre in the town of Saarbrücken.

A special handstamp as well as a slogan postmark was used only on the 9th Oct.
