100th BIRTHDAY of FERDINAND von ZEPPELIN

BACKGROUND: Two commemorative Airmail stamps were issued on 5th Jul 1938 to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the birth of Ferdinand Graf Zeppelin. The stamps were designed by von Axster-Heüdtlass and this one features von Zeppelin in the gondola of one of his airships, L.Z.4, on its maiden flight on the 20th of Jun 1908.
