BACKGROUND: The seventh stamp in the Olympic series features the double sculls rowing competition for men. The gold medal was won by Britain's Jack Beresford and Leslie Frank Southwood (7 minutes and 20 seconds). The silver went to Germany's Jaochim Pirsch and Willi Kaidel (7 minutes and 26 seconds) and the bronze went to Poland's Jerzy Ustupski and Roger Verey (7 minutes and 42 seconds).
There were a number of other rowing events with Germany winning the gold medal in 'four without Coxswain for men', 'Pair-Oared Shell With Coxswain for Men' and 'Single Sculls for men'. There were no rowing events for women.
