BACKGROUND: There were two stamps, designed by Diebitsch, issued to commemorate the 1936 Berlin Motor Show. They were initially only available in Berlin (as the exhibition was held in that city). However, From 24th Feb they were issued across the rest of Germany. The stamps depict the fathers of the German motor industry Gottlieb Daimler and Carl Benz.
During the exhibition, from 15th Feb until 1st Mar 1936, there was a special postmark used that depicted the first motor car designed and built by Carl Benz. A special handstamp was available as was at least one private postcard.
