OSTROPA

BACKGROUND: Issued to celebrate OSTROPA - Eastern European Stamp Exhibition in Königsberg. This stamp is from a Minisheet, Block 3 that was designed by Prof. Franz Martin and is one of 4 stamps on the Minisheet. The stamp features an image of Königsberg Castle.

Due to the high sulphuric content of the Minisheet it was common practise to remove the gum from the sheet and the stamps. Stamps with gum intact sell for much higher prices than those with the gum removed.
