SA SPORTS COMPETITION DAY - MARBURG / LAHN
(13th Sep 1942)
BACKGROUND: This postcard was published to commemorate one of the SA sports Days, this one held on 13th Sep 1942 in Marburg / Lahn. The image on the card depicts the town of Marburg and is titled "MARBURG AN DER LAHN (vom Stadion aus gesehen)" - 'MARBURG AN DER LAHN (seen from the stadium)'.
The reverse side bears an SA image comprised of swastika, sword and surrounding oak leaves wreath, symbols of strength and long life. There is also a K.d.F symbol and the text "Wehrkampftage 1942 Marburg / Lahn am 13. September im Universitäts-Stadion" - 'Wehrkampftage (SA Sports Day) 1942 Marburg / Lahn on September 13th in the university stadium'.
The card is numbered K/0724 and the vertical inscription reads "Nach einem Holzschnitt von Felix Klipstein" - ' After a woodcut by Felix Klipstein', indicating the origin of the image on the other side. Finally the special commemorative SA postage stamp Michel 818, has been applied but was not cancelled.
