1st GREATER PEOPLE'S FESTIVAL
WAR DAY of the NSDAP
(11th/12th Oct 1936)

BACKGROUND: This postcard was published to commemorate the 1st greater people's festival held in Erfurt on 11th and 12th Oct 1936. The inscription on the front side of the card translates as:

"1st Greater folk festival. In the flower city of Erfurt, on Friedrich-Wilhelm place, at the foot of dome and Severi church, on the occasion of the War Day of the NSDAP on 11th and 12th October 1936".

SPECIAL CANCEL: There was a special cnacel available on 11th and 12th Oct that was inscribed "ERFURT FPA | ERFURT STADT KREIGSTAG 1936" and featured an eagle with out-stretched wings and a swastika. The card below has the special cancel applied.
