MARCH of GAU SAXONY

BACKGROUND: This postcard commemorates the March of the members of the Saxony Gau from Dresden to Nürnberg prior to the start of the annual Nazi Rally held from 8th to 14th Sep 1936. The example below shows the special cancel that was used in Nürnberg during the rally of 1936.

SPECIAL CANCEL: There was a special cancel used to commemorate the march and it is inscribed "MARSCHSTAFFEL ZUM REICHSPARTEITAG DER NSDAP | GAU SACHSEN | DRESDEN-HOF-NÜRNBERG | MARSCHPOST" - 'MARCH RELAY TO THE NATIONAL PARTY CONVENTION OF THE NSDAP | GAU SAXONY | DRESDEN-HOF-NUREMBERG | MARCH MAIL', which was available from 3rd to 14th Sep 1936, and was then used again from 30th Aug until the 13th Sep 1937.
