17th KÖNIGSWALD STAMP DAY

BACKGROUND: Commemorating the 17th Anniversary of the German Association and Philatelic Day held in Königswald 24th and 25th Oct 1936.
Königswald is a small town in what was in 1936 a part of Czechoslovakia. The population of the town (known by the Czech name of Libouchec) was majority ethnically German, and under the Munich Agreement of 1938 it was ceeded to the Tetchen district of Germany, where it remained until 1945. Following its return to Czechoslovakia after the war, the German residents were expelled.
