BERLIN AIRMAIL COLLECTOR'S SHOW

BACKGROUND: There were a number of very similar postcards issued to commemorate the Berlin Airmail Collector's Show in 1936 and again in 1941. As the cards are very similar in design they are all show together on this page for easy reference.

PP122-C-32/01 1936 Issue with a 3Rpf pre-printed Hindenburg Medallion Stamp. No vertical and horizontal lines.

PP122-C-32/02 1936 Issue with a 3Rpf pre-printed Luftpost stamp. As for PP122-C-32/01 but now with a horizontal and a veryical line.

PP139-C-1 1936 Issue, has two pre-printed stamps, a 15Rpf Luftpost and a 1Rpf Hindenburg Medallion.

No Pre-Printed Stamp 1936 Issue with no pre-printed stamps

PP122-D-8 1937 - Blue Picture - 3Rpf Hindenburg Medallion Stamp. This postcard has the inscription "10 Jahre | "Deutscher | Luftpost-Sammler-| Verband".

PP122-C-118 1941 Issue with a 3Rpf pre-printed Hindenburg Medallion Stamp. This card has the inscription "Deutsche | Luftpost-Ausstellung 1941" above the image and "KdF.-Sammler-Gruppen" below the image.

SPECIAL CANCELS: There were special cancels used at the exhibition in 1936, 1937 and again in 1941. These can be seen on the cards below.

1936: The only special cancel available in 1936 was used in SCHÖNEBERG. It was only available from one counter, and only on the day of the event 1st Nov 1936.

1937: The only special cancel available in 1937 was used in BERLIN W62. It was only available from one counter, and only on the day of the event 20th Aug 1937.

1941: The only special cancel available in 1941 was used in BERLIN-FRIEDENAU. It was only available from one counter, but was available for two days on the 5th and 6th Apr 1941.

PP122-C-32/01
3Pf HINDENBURG MEDALLION
(1936)

PP122-C-32/01 has a 3Rpf pre-printed Hindenburg Medallion Stamp. This card has the inscription "VEREINIGUNG FUR POSTALISCHE LUFTFAHRTDOKUMENTE BERLIN" above the image in the left pane, and "1. BERLINER LUFTPOST | WERBERSCHAU | 1.11.36." below the image. The distinquishing features of PP122-C-32/01 are the lack of a vertical line and a horizontal line to the right of the image.

These examples feature the special cancellation used at the show and inscribed "BERLIN-SCHONEBERG | 1. Berliner | Luftpost - Werberschau"

PP122-C-32/02
3Pf HINDENBURG MEDALLION
(1936)

PP142-C-6 has a 3Rpf pre-printed Luftpost Stamp. This card is also inscribed "VEREINIGUNG FUR POSTALISCHE LUFTFAHRTDOKUMENTE BERLIN" above the image in the left pane, and "1. BERLINER LUFTPOST | WERBERSCHAU | 1.11.36." below the image. PP122-C-32/02 differs from PP122-C-32/01 in that it has an additional vertical and horizontal line to the right of the image.

PP139-C-1
15Rpf LUFTPOST and 1Rpf HINDENBURG
(1936)

PP139-C-1 has a 15Rpf Luftpost and a 1Rpf Hindenburg pre-printed Stamp. This card is also inscribed "VEREINIGUNG FUR POSTALISCHE LUFTFAHRTDOKUMENTE BERLIN" above the image in the left pane, and "1. BERLINER LUFTPOST | WERBERSCHAU | 1.11.36." below the image, but now there is no rubber stamp.

NO PRE-PRINTED STAMP

This card does not have a pre-printed stamp. This card is also inscribed "VEREINIGUNG FUR POSTALISCHE LUFTFAHRTDOKUMENTE BERLIN" above the image in the left pane, and "1. BERLINER LUFTPOST | WERBERSCHAU | 1.11.36." below the image, but now there is no rubber stamp.

This example features the special cancellation used at the exhibition in 1936 and was sent to a well know Stamp Dealer, Mr. Fritz Paeplow, in Berlin.

PP122-D-8
3Rpf HINDENBURG MEDALLION

PP122-D-8 is blue rather than the usual black and has a 3Rpf pre-printed Hindenburg Medallion Stamp. This card has the inscription "10 Jahre | "Deutsche | Luftpost-Sammler- | Verband" below the image.

This example also has the special cancel used at the exhibition in 1937 and inscribed "BERLIN W62 | 10 Jahre Deutsche Luftpost - Sammler Verband | 5 Jahre "Die Luftpost"" - 'BERLIN W62 | 10 years of the German Airmail Collectors Association | 5 years "The Airmail"'

PP122-C-118
3Pf HINDENBURG MEDALLION

PP122-C-118 has a 3Rpf pre-printed Hindenburg Medallion Stamp. This card has the inscription "Deutsche | Luftpost-Ausstellung 1941" above the image and "KdF.-Sammler-Gruppen" below the image. There are also two new additions: the word "DRUCKSACHE" has been added to the left of the pre-printed stamp, and the text "Abgabepreis 25Pfg." - 'Sale price 25Pfg' along the vertical dividing line.

This example also has the special cancel used at the exhibition in 1941 and inscribed "BERLIN-FRIEDENAU 1 | Deutsche Luftpost - Ausstellung | 5. und 6.4.1941".
