THE DAY OF THE STAMP
PP122-C-20
(7th Jan 1936)

This postcard was issued to commemorate the first "Day of the Stamp" and the "Founding Day of the R.d.P or Reichsbund der Philatelisten" on 7th Jan 1936. There are at least a dozen variations. Five of the variations are coloured black/white and nine others are coloured red/brown. The designs are all almost identical with the main inscription on the front of the card:

"1. Tag der Briefmarke" - '1. The Day of the Stamp'.

"Gründungs | Tag - des | Reichsverbandes | der Philatelisten"
'Founding | Day - of | Reich Association | of the philatelists'.

SONDERSTEMPEL:

There are two special cancels associated with the event, a long rectangular slogan cancel and a more familiar circular cancel.

Black and White With a "7. Januar 1936" inscription:

This card is the same design as (2) above, with the inscription 'Drucksache' with two lines of text beneath it, insciption reads "Drucksache | Aufgabeort: | Berlin-Wilmersdorf. The destination on the right-hand pane is now "An Herrn | H. TREITEL | Berlin-Charlottenburg 2 | Uhlandstraβe 6".

This version of the card has is now coloured in red/brown and no date below the image. The date ("7.Januar 1936") is now in grey text and has moved to the bottom left-hand side of the message side of the card.
