LABOUR BATTLE - RHINELAND
(Apr 1934)

This postcard is probably related to the desire of the Nazi's to re-occupy the Rhineland region, occupied after the Treaty of Versailles, by the victorious Allies. The inscription reads:

"Kampf für 60 tausend volksgenossen in der pfalz
Das erste Hitlerjahre
Führte 18 Tausend
der Arbeit zu.
Nun gilt es das zweite
Jahr zu einem Jahr des
Erfolges zu machen
Deshalb:
au jeden leerstehenden
Arbeitsplatz einen
erwerbslosen volksgenossen
Jeder helfe mit und
wir gewinnen die
Arbeitschlacht"

Roughly translated as "Fight for 60,000 people in the Palatinate. The first Hitler years led 18 thousand into work. Now it's time for the second year of success. Therefore: at every empty workplace unemployed compatriots, everyone help and we will win the labor battle"

There is a second inscription, this time on the reverse side that reads:

Hast Du bereits Deine Pflicht
gegenüber Deinem erwerbslosen
Volksgenossen erfullt?

"Have you already fulfilled your duty like your unemployed countrymen?"
