Officially issued on 30th Apr 1934 but available from 28th Apr 1934 and valid until 31st Dec 1935.

This postcard has a brown 6 Rpf indicia stamp and is printed brown on a cream backgroud. The inscription reads "Nationaler Feiertag 1934" - 'National Holiday 1934'. Introduced in 1933 as "Feiertag der nationalen Arbeit" - 'National Labor Holiday', this May 1st National holiday was re-named "Nationaler Feiertag des deutschen Volkes" -'National holiday of the German people', in 1934.

Destination address KURT HORN | Dresden-Bad Weiβer hirsch

1. This first example has the destination address in blue text and a large blue "Auftrag" on the reverse side. This particular example is an order form from C.T HASCHTMANN of KIRCHBERG.




2. Similar to the card above this example has the same blue text destination address and large "Auftrag" on the reverse side. In this case it is an order from a Rudolf Günther of Reichenbach.




3. The following example now has the destination address in grey-green text and a slightly different design to the "Auftrag" logo on the reverse side. This order appears to be from an Otto Bürckhardt of Marienberg. The family business was located at the Post Office house in Marienburg. Otto Burckhardt was a descendant of the trading family that had lived and worked in the house since 1881 and was the operator of a small tobacco shop and a shop selling wine and health food products. He committed suicide in his business premises in 1946 in the aftermath of the Soviet occupation. On 15th Nov 1948, a trading organization was founded, which took over the in-house business.
