31st GERMAN PHILATELIST'S DAY
(Aug 1925)
The 31st German Philatelist's and Postal Exhibition was held in Hamburg in Aug 1925. There were an incredible 98 different postcards published, all with a pre-printed Eagle stamp. The first 49 are listed as PP77-C-2/01 to -/49 and have 3Rpf stamps and the second 49 cards which are listed as PP81-C-8/01 to -/49 and have a 5Rpf stamp.
If collecting all 99 cards is a little daunting you can consider collecting a sub-set instead. Each card has an image on the reverse side and there are a total of seven different images with captions as follows:
1. "Hamburg Altes Fleet"
2. "Hamburg Bismarck denkmal"
3. "Fährhaus-Bucht"
4. "Hamburg. Kleine Alster"
5. "Partie aus dem Hamburger Hafen"
6. "Cap Polonio"
7. "St Pauli Landungsbrücke"
In addition there are seven different images of old stamps as follows:
1. a ½ Schilling
2. a 1¼ Schilling
3. a 1½ Schilling
4. a 2 Schilling
5. a 3 Schilling
6. a 4 Schilling and
7. a 7 Schilling.
Collecting one of each image and one of each stamp means only having to find 14 different cards (28 if you consider the PP77-C-2 variants), which is much more manageable than all 99 cards.
