INTRODUCTION:
The study of the various postmarks and cancellations used in 1922 is a difficult one due to the limited information available. Fortunately we have the BOCHMANN catalogue to assist in identifying most of them. Whilst the catalogue covers the vast majority of special cancellations, and is a required source for this area of study, the information provided is limited and does not put the various postmarks and cancellations into context. The Bochmann catalogue forms the basis of this page but I have provided additional information where possible. My apologies now for any errors and the inevitable ommisions.

26. INTERNATIONALER HÄNDLERTAG DES I.P.H.V
26TH INTERNATIONAL DEALER DAY OF THE I.P.H.V
(23rd/25th Jan 1922)

BOCHMANN Heft 2, Page 92, Nr S 62

This special handstamp was used only in BERLIN to commemorate the 26th meeting of the International stamp dealer's Association (I.P.H.V) held from 23rd to 25th Jan 1922. The inscription reads "* BERLIN | 26. INT. BRIEFMARKEN-HÄNDLERTAG * | J.P.H.V | 23.-26.Jan. |1922".

The event appears to have been cut short by a day as the related postcards have a date 23td to 25th Jan and the handstamp states 23rd to 26th Jan. A similar handstamp was used in 1921 for the 25th Anniversary commemoration.

28. FRANKFURT am MAIN PHILATELIST'S DAY

This special handstamp was used in FRANKFURT (MAIN) to commemorate the "28. PHILATELISTEN-TAG-DES-BUNDES-DEUTSCHES-OESTERR-PHILATELISTEN-VEREINE-ZU-FRANKFURT-AM-MAIN" - '28TH PHILATELIST DAY OF THE BUNDES-GERMAN-AUSTRIAN PHILATELIST ASSOCIATIONS IN FRANKFURT-AM-MAIN.

There is only one version of this handstamp and the inscription reads "FRANKFURT (MAIN) 9 | 1922 | * 28. Philatelisten-Tag 9.-13.Aug *" and the design features a tower

VISIT ULM THE CITY WORTHY OF MUNSTER

This tourist promotion roller cancel is inscribed "BESUCHET | ULM | DIE EHR-MUNSTER WURDIGE STADT" - 'VISIT ULM, A CITY WORTHY OF MUNSTER' and features a silhouette of the Munster Tower located in Ulm. This handstamp was used in 1922, 1923 and 1924 only.

To commemorte the 1922 BERLIN Postage stamp Exhibition held from 15th to 22nd Oct 1922 the special handstamp below was used. The handstamp only exists in one version and that is with a 'POSTWERTZICHEN AUSSTELLUNG 1922 | BERLIN W62' inscription and an image of a naked woman releasing a dove.
