MICHEL 782
HITLER'S HEAD
3Rpf
BACKGROUND: This series of Hitler's head stamps was first introduced in Aug 1941 and gradually rolled out over the next few years as stocks of Hindenburg Medallion stamps were used up. Unlike the Hindenburg Medallions, which were released in four variants (if you include the six stamps re-issued to mark the death of Hindenburg), there is only a single issue of these stamps featuring Adolf Hitler.
Michel Numbers 781 to 786 (1Rpf through 8Rpf) were designed by Prof. Richard Klein, printed at the State Printing Works in Berlin and were printed Letterpress.
