BACKGROUND: The following Meerwald stamp is the first of three stamps re-issued on 18th May 1939 to commemorate both the Nürnburg Races and Hitler's Culture Fund. There was also a special postmark used alongside the stamp.
The design on the stamps shows the first Automobiles produced by Carl Benz (1885) and Gottfried Daimler (1886).
