BACKGROUND: The following Meerwald stamp is the second of three stamps issued on 17th Feb 1939 to commemorate the International Automobile and Motorcycle Show held in Berlin. There was also a special postmark used for the duration of the show, from 17th Feb 1939 until 5th Mar 1939.

At this time each country had its own colour for its race cars, Germany - silver, Great Britain - British racing green, etc. At least two private postcards were made available at the show that also featured these two racing cars.
