NAZI PARTY RALLY
(MINISHEET)

BACKGROUND: Minisheet Block 11 was issued on 3rd Sep 1937 and like the three previous Minisheets Block 7, Block 8 and Block 9, it has a swastika watermark that covers the entire reverse side of the sheet. This Minisheet differs from the earlier designs in that it has an additional inscription "25 Rpf | einschlieβlich | kulturspende" - '25 Rpf | including | culture donation', in green text, to both the left and right of the four stamps and also has the inscription "Reichsparteitag" and "Nürnberg 1937" along the vertical sides of each of the stamps.

The reason for putting the inscription on both sides of the stamps is because the sender could use the entire sheet, or any number of stamps from the sheet, to cover the cost of mailing an item.

Although this minisheet was primarily used for the 1937 Nazi Party Rally from 6th to 13th Sep in Nürnberg, it was first made available from the 3rd Sep at the KdF Exhibition at the BERLIN zoo "Collecting in Your Leisure Time". A special handstamp was used at the show from 3rd to 5th Sep. Eight variants of this cancel were used with counters 'a' through 'h'.

The minisiheet was put on general sale at all post offices from 6th Sep, including in Nürnberg where another special handstamp was used. In short this minisheet can be found with a number of different special cancels.

RELATED SPECIAL HANDSTAMP - COLLECTING IN YOUR LEISURE TIME

A special handstamp was used at the show held at the Berlin Zoo from 3rd to 5th Sep. The handstamp is inscribed "BERLIN W62 | DEUTSCHE SAMMLER-GEMEINSCHAFT | DER N.S. GEMEINSCHAFT | KRAFT DURCH FREUDE". Eight variants of this cancel were used with counters 'a' through 'h'.

The following Block 11 has a special handstamp related to the Nazi Party Rally, but was not used at the rally. This handstamp was used prior to the rally on the march of the Saxony Gau from DRESDEN-HOF-NÜRNBERG
