Issued 12th Jan 1940 this official card features an olive-green 6 Rpf Hindenburg Medallion pre-printed stamp overprinted "Lothringen". For more details on this postcard see Michel P243.

There are a number of fake / re-print versions of these cards being sold over the Internet, below are some guidelines that should help you distinquish the originals from the fakes.



ABOVE LEFT: FAKE / RE-PRINT
ABOVE RIGHT: GENUINE ISSUE

1. The overall image is much sharper and the black tones much deeper on the genuine card.
2. The flag is a more vibrant orange clour on the genuine card, it is washed out on the re-print
3. The eagle on the flag is more detailed and clear on the genuine than it is on the re-printed card.
4. The image on the re-printed card is greyish whereas the genuine card has a more defined yellowish tinge.
