OFFICIAL DEUTSCHES REICH POSTCARDS USED IN BOHEMIA / MORAVIA
The Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia was established on 15th Mar 1939 and existing Czechoslovakian postal stationery was initially not used. Vorläufer or Precursors are considered as postal items cancelled from 15th Mar 1938 until 31st Jul 1939. From 15th Jul 1939 additional frankings are known on temporary issues and from 29th Jul 1939 on the final series. Additional franking with stamps of the German Empire are also known.Postal items cancelled from the beginning of Aug 1939 are considered as mitläufer or followers. The sale of Czechoslovakian postal stationery from post office counters ceased on 30th Nov 1939 and all Czechoslovakian postal items expired on 19th May 1940. However there are known examples of genuine usage after this date.
Mitläufer are only recognised by a clear date and city stamp, any doubtful Czechosolvakian mail cancelled at this time which cannot be confirmed is considered as a regular Czechoslovakian usage rather than a Bohemia and Moravia Protectorate usage.
