BACKGROUND: This private postcard is entitled "Der Normalverbraucher und Reichswohnung Kommissar Reichsleiter Dr. Robert Ley" - 'The average consumer and Reichswohnung Commissioner Reichsleiter Dr. Robert Ley' and features an image of Dr. Ley giving a speech on 12th Oct 1943.

The text to the right of the image translates roughly as "We National Socialists don't know a diplomatic household. Everyone, whether Reich Minister or Reichsleiter, has to live off their (ration) cards just like the simple workers, craftsmen and civil servants. But even the normal (ration) card is enough for everyone, because I try it out every day, since I too am a normal consumer."
