LEARN TO FLY
(11th Sep 1943)
BACKGROUND: By the middle of 1943 the Luftwaffe was a severly depleted force compared to this size and quality at the outbreak of war in 1939. Four years of war had seen most of Germany's finest airmen either killed or captured and there was a great shortage of qualified pilots. These postcard were published to encourage young Germans to learn to fly and then to move on to the Luftwaffe.
I don't know the exact date that these cards were published, but I have included them here based on the cancellation dates.
SPECIAL CANCEL:
FIRST CARD
The reverse of the card bears the inscription 'Das NS-fliegerkorps erfüllt den Wunsch der Jugend und die Forderung der Luftwaffe: Fliegen Lernen!' - 'The NS-Fliegerkorps fulfils the wishes of the youth and the demands of the Air Force: learn to fly'. This was one of a number of such cards issued to promote learning to fly.
SECOND CARD
The reverse of the second card bears the inscription 'Herausgegeben im Einvernehmen mit dem Reichsminister der Luftfahrt und Oberbefehlshaber der Luftwaffe (L In 9) vom Korpsfuhrer des NS-Fliegerkorps' - 'Published in agreement with the Reich Minister of Aviation and Commander-in-Chief of the Air Force (L In 9) by the corps leader of the NS Fliegerkorps'.
THIRD CARD

FOURTH CARD
The reverse of the fourth card bears the inscription 'Das NS-Fliegerkorps ruft die Jugend zum Dienst in der Luftfahrt' - 'The NS-Fliegerkorps calls the youth to service in aviation'.
FIFTH CARD
The reverse of the fifth card bears the inscription 'Das jüngste Nachwuchs der Luftwaffe wird durch das NS-Fliegerkorps im Modellflug ausgebildet' - 'The youngest offspring in the Air Force are trained in model flying by the Nazi Fliegerkorps'.
