TAG DER BRIEFMARKE
EINHEITSORGANISATION DER DEUTSCHEN SAMMLER

BACKGROUND: There were two postcards, one designed by Ludwig Hesshaimer, sponsored by the Unified Organisation of German Stamp Collectors, published to commemorate 'Tag der Briefmarke' (The Day of the Stamp) on Sunday 11th Jan 1942.
SONDERSTEMPEL: A special handstamp was available as it was for all previous Tag der Briefmarke, and the simple design featured a posthorn along with the 'R.d.P' and 'K.d.F' logos. This handstamp was available with either "-", "/", "a", "b", "c" or "d" counters and unlike previous years was used on three consecutive days, 11th to 13th Jan 1942.
The handstamp was used in no less than 140 different towns and cities as follows:

This first rather dull card was designed by Ludwig Hesshaimer and was also re-issued in modified form for the 1943 Tag der Briefmarke.
This second card was designed by husband and wife team Werner and Maria von Axster-Heudtlass and features a soldier's steel helmet, a sword and an oak leaf branch symbolising strength and longevity. This type of symbology was very common durng the Nazi period.
This third card was also designed by Ludwig Hesshaimer and was re-issued for the 1943 Tag der Briefmarke.
