EUROPEAN POSTAL CONGRESS

BACKGROUND: Issued 12th Oct 1942. This card was issued to commemorate the European Postal Congress held in Vienna from 12th to 24th Oct 1942. The pre-printed stamp is the same as one of the three official stamps Michel 821, designed by Erich Meerwald and released at the same time. There was also a special cancel.

The unused P294 card below has been favour cancelled with the special cancel used to commemorate the European Postal Congress held in Vienna in 1942. In addition the three commemorative stamps issued to celebrate the congress have also been added, but the card was never postally used.

1. The following card bears the special handstamp used to commemorate the Congress and bears the inscription "WIEN | Europäischer PostKongress", applied on 24th Oct 1942

The card below was sent from HANNOVER to WUPPERTAL on 7th Sep 1943.
