5Rpf HINDENBURG MEDALLION STAMP
DETAILS: Issued 1933. Broad graduation (three lines) down the centre. P216 differs from P217 below only in the height of the sender section. For P216 this is 21mm high, whereas for P217 it is 24.5mm high, otherwise they are identical. The earliest known cancellation date for P216 is 10th Feb 1933. There are two variations of P216: Type 'I' has a straight edge whilst Type 'II' has a serrated edge.
As well as the official card there were a number of official cards with additional private printing.

SLOGAN CANCELLATIONS
1. This first example is also a local delivery, this time in LEIPZIG on 6th Mar 1934. This example features a special slogan cancellation used to commemorate Richard Wagner.2. The following example features a special cancel inscribed "Jeder | Volksgenosse | Rundfunkhörer" - 'everyone | comrade | radio listener', which was used in 57 towns and cities every year from 31st Jul 1933 until 1943. This example was a local delivery in MUNICH on 24th Sep 1933
